CK Akunnor is not allowing the latest setback in his managerial career to prevent him from appreciating God’s presence and grace in his life.

Since taking up his first coaching job, Akunnor’s career has witnessed an upward trajectory that has seen him manage some of the most prestigious clubs in Ghana including Hearts of Oak, Eleven Wise, Ashgold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Despite taking up the Kotoko job few weeks to the start of the CAF Confederation Cup, Akunnor managed to steer an injury-ravaged Kotoko side to the Money Zone of the competition.

Akunnor also guided Kotoko to glory in the Tier 1 of the Normalization’s Committee Special Competition, a feat he achieved with the club’s star player Sogne Yacouba.

Unfortunately these achievements by the former Black Stars captain did not appease the management of the Asanteman club who in a subtle attempt to sack him offered him the position of Technical Director.

CK has left the club and asked his lawyers to deal with issues of severance package but as a firm Christian, he believes the situation is an act of God.

Akunnor was yesterday recognized by organizers of the Ghana Football Awards with the Coach of the Year Award for his exploits in the past year. Speaking to press men after scooping the prestigious award, CK thanked God for how far he has brought him.

“There were time when it was difficult at Kotoko and I have to come out of difficult moments to make things happen and I wouldn’t be able to do that if God had not been with me. He knew me even before I was formed in my mother’s womb so everything that happens to me is part of the fact that I’m here today. I can only be better and I believe that God has a purpose for me and that purpose will come out one day”, Akunnor said.
