Asante Kotoko coach C.k Akunor has praised his players for their impressive display in the 2-1 win over Coton Sport de Garoua in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Akunor, who is excited by the teams qualification to the group stages of the competition commended the playing body for adhering to his tactics.

"We went to Coton Sport with an idea of trying to win the match before the second leg because we have seen them in their previous match and we thought it wise to go there and win," he said in a post match interview.

"The idea we had worked for us. The boys were fantastic, unbelievable, especially in the first half and today it was for us to continue with the management. We needed to keep the ball than we did in Cameroon," he added.

"The first half was good, the second half was good. It was an impressive performance," he concluded.

The Porcupine Warriors completed the double over the Cameroonian Champions to book a place in the group stages of the competition for the first time since 2008.

Captain Amos Frimpong converted a penalty on the stroke of half time before Maxwell Baakoh doubled their lead in the 53rd minute to effectively killed the tie.

The visitors reduced the deficit through Oumar Sali in the 81st minute but C.K Akunnor’s men held on to take the win.
