Can free scoring Athleta Ladies halt in-form Ghatel?

Accra, Nov 24, GNA-When the Greater Accra Women Soccer (GAWSOC) league enters its 12th Week, one interesting game which is expected to attract a huge patronage is the one involving Ghatel Ladies and Athleta Ladies.

Ghatel, the league leaders are paired against a free scoring Athleta side currently second on the log and five points adrift the former engage in the game many expect to go to the wire, judging from their pedigree this season.

The Ghana Telecom Ladies would seek to solidify their five point lead at the expense of their opponents who have forced pundits to re-write the scripts with a superlative run that has seen them amass 25 points so far.

In the Athleta side remains an enthusiastic squad capable of posing any threat to any side, but against a Ghatel side that enriches in the glory of experience with almost half of the country's best players in their possession, all roads must surely lead to the Ashaiman Roman Park to see how the field would decide the fate of the two. Ghatel are expected to introduce players like Ibrahim Aminatu at the rear where she has fared well with inspiration from Patience Nelson and others and it remains a guess to see how slippery scoring Rumanatu Tahiru would deal with the defence with their amazing composure that has emerged their trump card at the back.

When Ghatel strike as they often do, Athleta's Rukaya Sulley who has remained unbeatable in defence would need none to remind her that dealing with a possible convoy of skilful talents of Gloria Oforiwaa, midfield gems-Florence Okoe and Sheila Okang with the driving force from hardworking skipper Maimuna Darko would require additional effort to contain.

The battle lines are drawn for the most exciting fixture this weekend and supporters in and around Tema would have every reason to fill the Roman Park to capacity come Sunday.

On Saturday, third placed Faith Ladies are favoured against Tesano Ladies in their duel billed for the Odorgonno Secondary School Park. The matches continue on Sunday with Nungua Ladies crossing swords against Dansoman Ladies at the Nungua Town Park, Sunsport against Bubuashie Starlets at the Borstal Park, Port Ladies will sort things out with bottom placed Ada side at the Tema Community 5 (Number 3) School Park, Great Mawuana meet La Ladies at the Town Council Line Park and Rotweiss Ladies clash with Post Ladies at the Awudome JSS Park.
