Shot stopper for Medeama Sporting Club, Eric Ofori Antwi has told Class91.3FM that the current Ghana football season should be cancelled following the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the 25-year-old, cancelling the season will give the players enough time to prepare for the next campaign.

The GFA has set June 30 as the deadline to announce its decision on the future of the suspended season.

“I want them to cancel the league because we are professionals and if you are to resume the league, you have to give us five to six weeks to prepare for the league. I think we will not meet the foreigners [European Leagues].

“So, I think we should cancel it and start from somewhere in September. By that time, everybody will be fit and ready for the league”.

Eric Ofori Antwi further highlighted the impact of the coronavirus on his fitness.

“Since this pandemic, we are finding it difficult at our training programme. That’s our main problem. When you are training, you are warned to stop. We are still doing our personal training to keep us in shape when the league starts. It’s not intensive training”.

Medeama SC lie 6th on the suspended Ghana Premier League with 24 points after Match Day 15.
