The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo has said the association will have to assess all possible ramifications before they can decide whether to abrogate the league or not.

The 2019/20 football season was halted midseason by the government of Ghana as part of the measures to control the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

The President in his last address on Sunday intimated that football remains suspended until at least July 31 prompting a debate on whether the season should be abrogated.

Alhaji Karim Grusah, the owner of King Faisal FC is the chief pioneer agitating for the abrogation of the halted season.

However, according to the GFA General Secretary, the league is a product that has been bought by MTN Ghana and StarTimes Ghana so they can't afford to make a decision that will affect the cordial relationship they have with the sponsors.

"People think that cancellation is easy and we are delaying in doing that but there are financial and legal implications that come with it. We have a contract with MTN and StarTimes so we can't just cancel the league without considering everything."

"The way you behave with the people you have a contract with will determine your chances with new companies because they will first assess your relationship with your current sponsors or past ones before they will come on board. "Lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo told Accra based Angel FM.
