Tema, Oct. 14, GNA - The October Medal Open Championship of the Celebrity Golf Club tees off at Sakumono, near Tema on next Sunday. Mr Joe Ohemeng, Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club, who announced this at Tema on Sunday, said the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition open to amateur golfers in the Greater Accra Region, was being sponsored by the Club.

He said about 100 golfers are expected to participate in the event, which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club.

Mr Ohemeng named some of the golfers who would be participating in the event as Abdzul Aziz-Amankwa, Theophilus Asampong, both of Celebrity and Mike Ezan, Peter Abrokwah, Nick Smallman and Mike Aggrey of the Achimota Golf Club.

Golfers use the monthly Medal Competition to sharpen up their strokes for major events. The next major event would be the Ghana Commercial Bank Limited Accra Open at the Achimota Golf Club from October 27-28 this year. 14 Oct 07
