Cesena seek Stephen Appiah deal

Italian side Cesena want to sign Stephen Appiah to a two-year deal Ghana captain Stephen Appiah is reported to be in talks with Italian Serie A Cesena but they face stiff competition for some American clubs.

According to a report carried in the authoritative La Gazzetta dello Sport, the midfielder will hold talks with the club from Monday.

The 28-year-old played for rival Serie A Bologna last season but he is eyeing a better pay offer deal since his impressive showing at the World Cup.

Appiah will move as a free agent if a deal is agreed, having been cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after his legal battle with Fenerbahce.

CAS rejected an appeal from Fenerbahce over a two-million-Euro payout demanded by the Turks after confusion over a botched knee surgery.

Cesena will take Appiah on a free transfer but will assure him of good wages but according to the report in the newspaper, several American clubs also wants the inspirational captain to boost their ranks.
