Cape Coast, Sept.20, GNA - Mr Mathew Doe, Chairman of Central Regional Football Association (CRFA) on Monday commended the region's school team for emerging the overall champions and winning eight of the twelve trophies at the just ended National Basic Schools Sports Festival which ended at Bolgatanga, a week ago.
The team won both the soccer boys and girls events, athletics boys and girls, table tennis boys and girls and cross country boys and girls. They also won the Fair Play as well as the well-behaved team trophies at the Festival.
Mr Doe also commended the Regional Schools and Colleges Sports Association for assisting the schools to achieve such sterling success and urged them to continue t6o sustain the team spirit to achieve more laurels.
He appealed to the team to train harder than before to achieve more success in their career.
Mr Doe asked the sports girls and boys to refrain from negative practices such as alcoholism, smoking and taking of energy enhancing drugs since such practices can adversely affect their performances. He appealed to businessmen, corporate bodies and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to assist in sponsoring the Regional Schools and Colleges Sports competition at Adisadel, a suburb of Cape Coast.
