Former Black Stars player Charles Taylor has criticized head coach Otto Addo and his team for their poor performance against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Taylor called out Otto Addo, claiming the manager does not have his signature on the team because they look disorganized during games.
He also lambasted the players for not showing conviction and determination in the two games they have played in the qualifiers so far, mentioning Antoine Semenyo and Fatawu Issahaku as examples.
"There are question marks on Otto Addo. He doesn't have any tactics. Who was our striker today? Who was the target man that gave the team a focal point upfront like Niger had in their number 7? If you can't beat Niger, then it will be very difficult. Otto Addo does nothing on the touchline aside from getting balls back on the pitch. I've not seen him beat any better team since he came back," he told Angel TV.
"The players are good but they don't show any seriousness when playing for Ghana. That is what I see. The Angola-Sudan game testifies that we are way below these teams. It seems they (Black Stars) are just playing around. We don't have players who are devoted to serving the country. Semenyo and Issahaku were playing like it was a training game," he added.
Regarding the level of the players available, Taylor disputed the assertion that the Black Stars lack quality.
"For me, I never believe that we don't have quality. No player won't deliver when you instil confidence in him. If we decide to play some players over and over. If you begin to bench some, they will be serious."
The Black Stars are now without a win in two games in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, losing 1-0 to Angola in Kumasi before a 1-1 draw against Niger in Morocco.
