Ghana Premier League legend, Charles Asampong Taylor, has fired back at people who mock him for driving what they believe to be a 'small car'.

Some users were surprised that a legend like Charles Taylor would drive a vehicle they deemed unworthy of his status.

Others, aware of Taylor's circumstances, defended him, stating he lives comfortably with multiple cars and his own home.

After being sent a video of the widely shared vehicle and ridiculed for not driving a more prestigious car, Charles Taylor addressed the issue on Angel TV.


Speaking on Angel TV, Charles Taylor chided his critics, noting that he is content with what he has and will not allow such negativity to affect him.

"Someone sent me a video with a message that I sit on the radio and talk anyhow but drive a small car. I don't understand certain people. I simply don't understand. A car is not a priority for me. I wasn't born with a car, so if I'm driving a small one that I can move around with, I'm content. Some Ghanaians only enjoy negativity and always want you to fail," he said on Angel TV.

At the peak of his footballing career, Charles Taylor was arguably the best player in the Ghana Premier League, winning the CAF Champions League title with Hearts of Oak before losing the final of the CAF Confederation Cup to them as a player for Asante Kotoko in 2004.

Taylor, who won league titles with both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, also featured for the Black Stars and the Black Galaxies (local Black Stars).
