Former Hearts of Oak Player and Coach, Mohammed Ahmed ‘Polo’ has hit at the club for appointing a ‘cheap’ coach in Edward Odoom.

The 63 year old believes Hearts of Oak’s pedigree means they appoint a coach of that ilk and not settle for anything below because its a cheaper option.

The Rainbow club endured a difficult start to the 2019-20 Ghana Premier League season. After losing their first match, Kim Grant was sacked and his assistant Edward Odoom was handed the job.

Before the league went on break, Hearts were placed 9th on the table and had accumulated 21 points from 14 games.

Polo believes its not good enough but says he’s not surprised because the current coach falls below the club’s standards.

“Hearts is not a small team; Hearts needs a coach with a pedigree, a coach with clout” he said.

“I don’t know what they saw before giving him (Edward Odoom) the job. What he can do is what he’s doing. Those who gave him the job they have eyes, if you want cheap things, you will get cheap results” Polo barked.

Mohammed Polo had a short lived second stint as Heart Coach between 2013 and 2014.
