Orlando Wellington, head coach of elected Glo Ghana Premier
League champions Berekum Chelsea says his side are not resting on their oars
yet and that they are focused on going all the way in the African Champions
League next year, no trophy can ever make them satisfied.
Wellington led his charges to beat Asante Kotoko 7-6 on
penalties after the 90 minutes ended deadlocked 2-2 to claim the 2011
President’s Cup last Friday. Yet to be crowned as league champions, the
President’s Cup actually is the first ever trophy the Berekum side have
received in Ghana football but Mr. Wellington tells All Sports Chelsea want
more titles.
“No, no, no, this is not the ultimate. Africa is the main
thing, we are very determined to do well in the CAF Champions’ League. This
will be the first time we shall be competing in a competition like that so we
assure our fans that we will do very well. We will be ready for any battles,”
Coach Wellington told All Sports.

Chelsea certainly are not in any celebratory mood, and have
shown intent by alreading making some key player acquisitions in the local
transfer market. Former Heart of Lions star midfielder Gladson Awako was in the
tick of affairs against Kotoko in his debut game for Chelsea, putting up
arguably a man-of-the-match performance.

Wellington says Chelsea will add more such quality to their
already good squad ahead of the defence of their maiden league title as well
continental football next term.

“We will break for two weeks after the coronation match on
July 17 then get back to real work for next season. We are not finished with
adding new players to the squad yet. Some of the players may go, some may stay,
so we need to be ready. We will still recruit good players,” the Chelsea coach
added.
