Chelsea clinch league summit

Berekum Chelsea are back at the apex of the Ghana Premier League log after a 3-0 win over Medeama on Sunday.
The Blues scored two goals in the first half and the final from the spot after the interval in a game which saw a player of the Mauves and Yellows taking an early shower for an elbow infringement.
Obed Owusu was the first to record his name on the score sheet in the 26th minute. Jordan Opoku’s beautiful cross met Owusu whose free header was too powerful for goalkeeper Joseph Halm to block.
The rearguard of the visitors had little time to make amends and before they could map out a strategy to thwart the efforts of the Chelsea strikers they conceded the second goal.
The Medeama defenders were completely beaten at the goalmouth from a Berekum Chelsea free kick paving way for the second goal in the 31st minute. Matters became worse for “The Brothers” as Henry Entsir saw red after elbowing a Berekum Chelsea player on the stroke of half time.
Although Medeama were a man down, they were able to match the Berekum side in most parts of the second half. However, the few set pieces that came their way near the danger spot of Berekum Chelsea were wasted.
Chelsea sealed their victory with a third goal from the spot in the dying embers of the game. They are now back at the top of the standings on 49 points.
