Berekum Chelsea coach Hans Van der Plyum is resigned to losing striker Emmanuel Clottey for the up-coming Glo Premier League season.
The former champions have signalled that Clottey would be on his way out of Berekum following a sterling performance in the African Champions League.
Clottey is the leading scorer in the continental competition as his goals has kept Chelsea in the hunt of a semi-final place on their debut appearance.
With 12 goals in this year's competition, the Ghana international could tie or break the four-year record of 13 individual goals accomplished in 2008 by Stephen Worgu for Enyimba if he scores in Chelsea's remaining two matches.
However, the prospects of the Ghana international, replicating his solid form in the Premier League this season appears over with Van der Plyum admitting he does not expect to have the player in his ranks this season.
"Clottey will be a player who will go after the Champions League, but we are looking for replacements who will help us to put in a strong bid for the Ghana Premier League title this coming season," the Chelsea coach said when asked about the possibility of fending off interest for Clottey.
For Van der Plyum, the necessity to keep the business running makes it inevitable to sell when an offers lands on the table.
"It is natural in Ghanaian football that club owners hope that one day they can sell one or two players to recoup their investment," he said.
"That is the aim of most of the Ghanaian teams, to get money to run the club and invest in other departments."
Berekum Chelsea won their debut Ghanaian league title in the 2011-12 season.
