Chiefs and people give Aduana Stars a hero's welcome

Dormaa Ahenkro, (B/A) Aug. 25, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Dormaa Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo Region have accorded the management and playing body pf Aduana Stars Football club a hero's welcome following their exploits in the just ended Middle League that has qualified to the Premier League.

The Club won two matches and drew one to make their first ever entry into the national Premier League alongside Accra Great Olympics and New Edubiase Stars.

A convoy of more than 60 vehicles filled with traditional leaders and ardent supporters of the Club clad in black and white met the team at Bechem junction on the main Kumasi-Sunyani trunk road amid pomp and pageantry before ushering them into the District capital at Dormaa Ahenkro.

At the Abanpredase Palace, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu 11, Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Area who is the Life Patron of the Club expressed joy at the team's eventual qualification to the premiership and urged the management and players to work harder to take the team and the name of the traditional area to greater heights.

Osagyefo Agyeman Badu announced a financial package of GHC 10,000 to the team for their splendid performance and pledged an initial financial support of GHC 100,000 from himself and the queen-mother, Nana Akosua Fima Dwaben 11, for the upkeep of the team.

The Dormaa Traditional Council also gave the team GHC 50,000. Osagyefo Agyeman Badu also announced that the team would enjoy the rare opportunity of shopping in Dubai if they were able to sail through the 2009-10 League season and remain in the premiership.

Mr Vincent Oppong Asamoah, Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive lauded the Club's performance, which he attributed to good management practices and discipline among the players.

He cautioned the team against complacency "since the task ahead is enormous and energy-driven".

The MCE assured the Club of the Assembly's readiness to provide the necessary materials to make the Dormaa stadium suitable for premiership league matches.
