China pledges to support golf

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Shi Ting Wang has promised to support for golf in Ghana.

Few days ago, the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono hosted a successful China National Day Golf competition to commemorate China’s 69th Independence anniversary celebration.

President of Ghana Association of Chinese Society, Mr Tang Hong, who played four birdies on the day pledged to continue with the support of golf saying, “I am highly impressed with what we have witnessed these few days; it goes to show that the future of golf is bright and we will continue to support it.

“Captain of the Professionals Golf Association, John Mawuli has been instrumental with the organization of this tournament; his hard work has encouraged us to do more for Ghana golf, particularly the pros and the youth.”

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Ting Wang, who was the Special Guest of Honour for the well-attended competition.

He said “I am more than happy today, although I did not play; China-Ghana relationship is getting stronger, and today’s gathering attests to that fact.”

He added “ The Association would support the development of the game to an international standard and would do its best to support professional golfers and to get the youth interested and involved in the game. All support issues should be channeled through John Mawuli, captain of Ghana PGA.”

It was Samuel Agyapong who won the seniors event after playing 18 in front and 18 at the back (36) stableford points, while Mrs Yun Zheng won the female version.
