The 2024 McDan Ga-Dangme Peace & Unity Cup kicked off with Chorkor mauling Dome-Kwabenya 4-0 at the McDan La Town Park on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

The tournament, which is the fourth edition, is aimed at fostering peace and unity in Ga-Dangme land ahead of the December General Elections.

The Chorkor team paraded a star-studded side that featured players like Accra Great Olympics star Christopher Nettey and Albania-based Joseph Ansah.

Enoch Aryeetey scored the tournament's opener just three minutes into the game when he headed in from close range.

Dome-Kwabenya created a few chances at goal, but it was Chorkor who dominated for most of the game.

Aryeetey later doubled the lead for Chorkor in the second half when he scored with a cool tap-in.

Dome-Kwabenya was reduced to 10 men after their midfielder Adams was sent off.

Chorkor took advantage of the game and grabbed their third goal as captain Ishmael Nortey scored from a rebound. Nortey eventually picked up the Man of the Match award for his brilliant performance in the game.

Substitute Shadrach Neequaye capped off the resounding victory with the fourth goal in the 88th minute to knock out Dome-Kwabenya from the tournament.

The match was one of 8 matches from the first round in the knockout stages. The tournament features a total of 24 communities in the Greater Accra Region who are slugging it out for the ultimate grand cash prize of GH₵10,000 plus a trophy and medals.

The 2024 McDan Ga-Dangme Peace and Unity Cup football tournament is being played at three venues: La Town Park, Sege Sports Complex, and Teshie Sports Complex.

The tournament, which is the brainchild of Dr. Daniel McKorley, will last until November 2024.
