Coach Edusei to work on Queens' psyche

Accra, Jan. 31, GNA - Black Queens Coach, Anthony Edusie has set his sight on improving the psyche of his charges as Ghana travel to the next stage of the Olympic Games qualifiers after thumping Guinea 7-1 on aggregate.

The Queens scored seven times over two legs and Coach Edusei told GNA Sports that but for an unimproved display by his defence in the return encounter in Accra on Saturday, the team will have conceded no goal. "The defence did not play as expected in the game in Accra. It was painful to concede a goal because we were hoping to record a clean sheet bu= t the defence went sleeping many a times and that is an area we are going to work on."

Coach Edusia was, however, ecstatic about the quality of his rampaging attack that notched seven goals through a brace each from Agnes Aduako and Captain Florence Okoe and the loner from Akua Sika.

"The attack has improved compared to how they played in the first le= g in Guinea. They played much more purposefully and got the goals we needed t= o progress. That was a good improvement and we have to work hard and maintain the momentum."

The coach reckons the qualifier will get tougher with every progress and said working on the players mental fortitude in the ensuing weeks remains prime to his goals.

The Queens missed out on the 2008 Beijing Olympics after losing in the final play-off fixture to Brazil and their appearance at the London gathering in 2012 will mark a historic Olympic appearance.
