Coach Herbert Addo chases fan with dagger

Coach Herbert Addo was spotted in serious pursuit of a fan wielding a dagger following Aduana Stars unimpressive goalless draw with Liberty Professionals on Wednesday.

The irate home fans who believe the ex national team coach has lost touch with the modern trends of the game directed their frustrations at the beleaguered coach and immediately asked for his removal.

It was this constant booing after the drabless game that saw a fan follow the coach all the way to his car and not knowing what he said, Addo came out chasing wielding a dagger. He however gave up the chase to return to his car and then drove of.

When contacted for his comments on the unfortunate event after fruitless attempts to reach coach Addo, Acting CEO of Aduana Stars Kofi Maanu said: “I was not present at the scene but I have been briefed on what actually happened.

“I would be in Dormaa today to get more facts of the happenings before we take the next line of action.

“However, if he (Addo) wielded a dagger like its being reported then it is a police case and would be treated as such.”

On whether the club will heed to the plea of the fans to sack the coach, Manu said: “Fans always want their club or team to be winning always and therefore can understand their frustration.

“However the truth of the matter is that you cannot win all the time and also because we have a running contract with the coach which at this point we have no intention of abrogating.”

Herbert Addo has come under intense criticisms lately.

After leading the local Black Stars to a shameful winless showing at the CHAN in Sudan, he came back to preside over Aduana Stars early exit from the Caf Champions League and now the uninspiring home draw to Liberty Professionals.
