Coach Ibrahim Tanko feels ready for Black Stars job

Cameroon assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has reiterated his interest in the Ghana job if the position becomes vacant.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has handled several clubs as assistant coach and yet to fully take charge of a side on his won.

At the just ended World Cup finals in Brazil, he deputized for Volker Finke, his former coach at Freiburg, in-charge of the Indomitable Lions.

Tanko, who worked as youth team coach at Freiburg before leaving to assist Finke at Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds, says he will never turn down Black Stars job.

“Well, I wouldn’t say I have my gaze on the Black Stars job but in the future if I am considered why not?,” Tanko told ghanasportsonline.com

“I am a Ghanaian and I will forever be ready to serve my country but for now my focus is on my job as the assistant coach of the Indomitable Lions.

“I can’t stay idle and wait for the Black Stars job; I am working so if at any point in time the GFA deems it fit to call me I wouldn’t say no but for now my focus is on my job as coach of Cameroon.”
