Coca-Cola Top 4 Launch December 18

The official launching of the third edition of the high profile Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA) Top Four competition comes off at the Banquet Hall of the State House on Thursday, December 18.

The unique event will be under the distinguished patronage of the Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama. According to the Administrative Manager of Ghalca, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, the launch ushers in the next Top Four tourney slated for the Accra and Kumasi Stadia on January 11, 2004.

Speaking to the Graphic yesterday, Mr Fianoo disclosed that the organisers would meet the four clubs who had qualified for the lucrative competition — Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, King Faisal and Liberty Professionals — on Tuesday to discuss some pertinent issues including the disbursement of gate proceeds, sponsorship shares for each club, among others.

He also revealed that Ghalca who are the main organisers of the event have so far realised a ?1.55bn sponsorship package for the impending tournament. He said Coca-Cola who are the title sponsors have contributed ?1.2bn of the total amount, with the major sponsors, Spacefon, and First Atlantic Bank voting ?300m and ?50m respectively. He hinted that Gemini Life Insurance Company (GLICO) was also working out a ?1bn insurance deal for the tournament.

The upcoming tourney is anticipated to be keener and more exciting as Coca-Cola is expected to introduce other awards apart from that of the best player, best goalkeeper, top scorer and revelation of the tournament.The unique event will be under the distinguished patronage of the Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
