Coca Cola U-17 campaign hits Volta Region

Accra, Jan. 21, GNA - As the Coca Cola U-17 soccer campaign hits the Volta Region, the soccer loving people will from Thursday, February 28 be entertained at the Ho Stadium, as eight teams converge to battle for supremacy in an anticipated crunchy ties. The competition, which has Asogli FC, Dynamo FC, Selion Academy, Volta Young Eagle (Ho), Fire FC, West Cedars, Serious Babies and Future Babies( Ketu) as the participating teams will be preceded by a soccer clinic to be conducted by coaches E.K. Afranie and Frimpong Manso amongst others.

The winner of the three-day competition will join Anokye Stars and Corners Babies from the Ashanti Region and Ultimate Soccer Academy from the Eastern Region to vie for honours in the final of the best juvenile team in the country at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra from April 6, to May 9, after the campaign has hit the remaining seven regions. According to the organizers of the competition, Coca Cola in a release to GNA Sports, the team that grabs the ultimate prize at the finals would be sponsored to watch the forthcoming FIFA 2010 World Cup tourney in South Africa as well as receive other attractive prizes. The Volta Region thus have the advantage of hosting the event after the two previous successful tourneys was organised in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions late last year.

At stake for the Volta Region edition, the ultimate winners will take home a giant trophy, cash prize, Coca Cola products as well as prizes for teams and players who excel in various categories like in the previous editions.

Coca Cola revealed that the purpose of the competition is to unearth soccer talents from the grassroots level to feed the various national teams for future competitions. 21 Jan. 10
