Commey fights Truscott in Commonwealth eliminator

Richard Commey will battle Englishman Paul Truscott in a Commonwealth lightweight final eliminator on July 13 in London.

The 12-round bout will take place at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, England. Commey, 15-0-0, of the Bronx Gym will be hoping to go a step closer at the Commonwealth title after claiming the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa lightweight title last March in Accra.

Truscott, 19-3-0 who hails from Middlesbrough will be looking forward to redeeming his image after a unanimous decision lost to compatriot Gary Buckland for the British super featherweight title last year.

Carl Lokko, trainer of Commey told GNA Sports the latter has been preparing feverishly for the bout.

“He (Commey) has instensfied training for the bout. This will be his third fight in the United Kingdom and we are looking forward to the moment.

“I’m very confident he will overcome Truscott, who has a record of only three knockouts. We will go out there and make Ghana proud once more,” he said.

Lokko added that they are finalizing arrangements for the trip to the United Kingdom whilst appealing for support for his ward.
