Ghana's boxing world title hopeful Richard Commey has disclosed he is prepared to go the long haul against his opponent Robert Easter Jnr when the two square up for the vacant IBF lightweight title which was vacated by Cuban superstar Rances Barthelemy three months ago.

Commey goes into the bout with a perfect record of (24-0, 22 KO's) with his opponent also undefeated in 17 bouts (17-0, 14 KO's).

Speaking to Class Sports’ Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang, the undefeated boxer said: “If it is going to be 14 rounds, I am ready to go. You need to condition yourself to travel the distance for such big fights. I never worry about knockouts because they come in their own way. God knows the end from the beginning. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The most important thing though is that if the fight travels the distance, I have to be prepared to go the distance.”

Commey said he was taking his trainer Carl Lokko’s advice seriously as he heads into the bout.

“He has been teaching me everything I need to know in boxing. Obviously, he has been with me from day one. He has been telling me the petty mistakes that I should not be doing. He wants to ensure that all those little errors are corrected before the fight on Friday. In boxing, when you make little mistakes, your opponent can take advantage of them and he does not want that to happen.”

The two boxers face off for the vacant IBF Lightweight title at the Santander Reading Arena in Pennsylvania on Friday, September 9th.
