Commodore records hat-trick in 6-1 Rhino win

(Rochester, NY)….. The Rochester Raging Rhinos welcomed the Toronto Lynx to Frontier Field on Friday night. The Rochester offense provided enough fireworks for any Independance Day celebration as they exploded for six goals, proving to be not very good hosts.

Toronto looked to take a major step toward solidifying their position in the Northeast Division as they took an early 1-0 lead on goal by Sebastian Barclay in just the fourth minute of play.

The early deficit didn't distract the Rhinos however as just six minutes later Viktor Paco tied the score as he raced past two Toronto defenders and on to a ball played by Kirk Wilson. Paco got to the ball first and fired a shot past Lynx netminder Theo Zagar.

With three minutes left to play in the first half, Doug Miller added to his league leading goal total by scoring his eleventh of the season. From just inside the 18 Miller found himself being cut off by a Lynx defender. Miller wasted little time and gave Rochester a 2-1 advantage.

With less than a minute to play in the first half defender Bill Sedgewick recorded his first goal of the season when Paco played the ball back to Sedgewick leading to the third Rhino goal.

With a 3-1 lead entering the second half of play, forward Fred Commodore notched his first goal of the season in the 68th minute. Miller, moving in on goal, took a shot where the rebound found its way to Commodore's foot and the Rhinos led 4-1.

Commordore continued his stellar play by adding two more goals in the next 13 minutes goals for his first career hat-trick as the Rhinos improved to 9-4-2 during 2003.

Billy Andracki was in goal for Rochester, making four saves to earn his ninth win of the year.

Rochester will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Toronto to battle the Lynx at Centennial Park in Toronto. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
