Ghana’s dream of picking more medals at the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland was dealt a big blow on Thursday, when the two leading disable athletes flopped miserably in the finals of the 1500m T54 race at the Hampdon Park Stadium.
Anita Fordjour and Ajara Mohamed placed 8th and 10th respectively to the disappointment of officials at the stadium.
Mohamed, who was highly tipped to improve upon her performance in the competition after picking bronze medal at the last Commonwealth Games, was last in the race whilst Fordjour struggled to pick the 8th position.
Another medal hopeful, Felix Acheampong, picked the 10th position in the Men’s 1500m T54 race to shut the dreams of the nation in making any impact in the disable sports.
Ghana has so far won a medal in the eight day old competition, with disappointing outings in other events.
