- Ghana national Light Flyweight boxing champion Manyo Plange took on Mohammed Nasir of Wales. The Welshman's quick legs and sharp technique was frustrating for Plange, who struggled to catch his opponent. Nasir looked like a true medal contender in his 27-12 victory.

- 17.03.06 -- BOXING: Neil Perkins eased through his first round match in the boxing tournament. Perkins produced a fine 13-7 win over Ghana?s Ahmed Saraku. Welterweight favourite Perkins(England), took time to break down the defensively minded Ghanaian but picked his shots patiently to ultimately secure an easy win.
