The 55h University of Ghana Inter Hall Cross Country came off last Friday with the Commonwealth Hall winning all three medals in the men division.

The keenly contested 10-kilometre race saw Commonwealth runners Lagble Raja Komla, Joseph Mensah and Prince Faraj win gold, silver and bronze respectively.

The outstanding team display by Commonwealth Hall also saw them pick up the trophy for the best male team with Volta Hall annexing the cup for being the best female team.

In the female category, 21-year-old Beatrice Owusuaa of the Sarbah Hall finished first with an impressive timing of 46 minutes 1 second. She was followed by Lawrencia Naa Adjeley of Volta Hall and Cynthia Anyokama Anafo of Akuafo Hall in that order.

Dr Bella Bello Bitugu, head of the University of Ghana Sports Directorate in his closing remarks commended all members of the sports directorate, participants and students for making the event a success.

He described the event as a journey aimed at discovering talented runners for the University and the country. He charged the winners to keep working hard and not rest on their laurels.

“The event was well-organized, well participated even though we would have wished that more halls had come but it is fine. We started this journey somewhere and we have made some progress. Organization was great and discipline was on point. You saw some halls which have reputation comport themselves very well this time around. New face, new champions so I can say that it was great”, he said
