Tema Community 4 and Ashaiman Lions have progressed to the Final Stage of the 2017 Tema Basketball League after recording wins earlier tonight at Tema’s Chinese Court.

Community 4 beat Tema Heat 63-53 while Lions got past Nungu Coldstore courtesy a 61-56 win over the defending champions.

Both teams progress to the Finals after sweeping their respective opponents in the best of three game series in this year’s postseason.

Despite the close scores, Ashaiman and C4 won comfortably as both teams dominated their opponents to set up a crunch meet in a fortnight.

Unsurprisingly, Community 4 opened the round with a second straight win over Heat on the back of another top performance from back court duo Kent Fosu and league Most Valuable Player Candidate Aninagyei Osei.

In the closing stages, all Heat could muster was a two handed slam from Center Gershon Dzorvor off a beautiful from Josiah Karikari inside the paint.

In the final game of the round, Lions pummeled 2016 Champions Nungua Coldstore on the boards to ride to victory.

The win is a big boost to Ashaiman following last season’s blowout loss to Coldstore in the league final; with this win, Lions have another chance at the title.

Front Court dwellers Abdul Bashiru, Dennis Dugbennu and Carl Kuzagbe fed the rest of the team with second chance opportunities following excellent work rebounding the ball.

Guards Daniel Amartey, Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Ibrahim Mohammed completed the job by knocking down three point shots.
