Companies support 'Rackets' ahead of Davis Cup

Accra, Mar. 3, GNA - Four companies - the State Insurance Company (SIC), Rana Motors, Japan Motors and Silver Star - have presented sponsorship packages including a 300-million insurance cover to the national tennis team, the Golden Rackets, ahead of their Euro-Africa II Davis Cup tie with Finland at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium. The three-day competition kick starts on Friday and would be played over best-of-five-sets.

Mr Franklin Asafo-Adjei, Deputy Managing Director (Finance and Administration) of SIC presented 12 sets of jerseys, 300-million insurance cover to both players and the captain, David Churcher and 200 copies of programme brochures for the competition valued at 15 million cedis.

Japan Motors doled out 50 pieces of jerseys, made of 20 for the players and 30 replica jerseys for the supporters while Rana Motors donated 50 tracksuits and 12 shorts.

In addition to their presentation, Japan Motors represented by Hilda Peasah, Public Relations Officer said the company was footing all adverts of the competition.

Silver Star, dealers in Mercedes Benz salon cars have made two of the company's vehicles available for use during the competition. All companies pledged their support to the team and urged them do the nation proud.
