Celebrated dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has said that comparing Thomas Partey to Michael Essien is not only disrespectful to the Chelsea legend but also a misrepresentation of the person that Thomas Partey is.
After cutting his teeth at RCD Mallorca and other lowly ranked Spanish teams, Partey has become an established member of Diego Simeone’s side.
Partey’s stocks have risen exponentially this season after a run of good performances for Atletico, particularly in the Champions League.
Essien, on the other hand, is regarded as one of the finest African footballers of his generation and has a Champions League medal in his cabinet.
The Chelsea legend is also multiple league winner and played for some of Europe’s top clubs including AC Milan and Real Madrid.
A ‘blasphemous and irreverence’ campaign on Twitter has resulted in a debate over who is the better of the two.
Adding his voice to the argument on Atinka TV, Stonebwoy urged Ghanaians to refrain from pitting the two players against each other.
Stonebwoy says his ‘brother’ Thomas Partey will not want to be put in the same bracket as Essien who had a trophy-laden career.
“I don’t think Thomas Partey endorse this disrespect. Ghanaians like this arguments because it gives them happiness but Essien is a legend and I’m sure Thomas Partey was inspired by people like Michael Essien. People shouldn’t say it for it to seem Partey is the one behind it. I know Partey very well, he is humble and respectful and I don’t think he will approve of this. Essien is a senior man and Partey is doing his part and representing us. So let us not compare the two”.
