Kariabangi Sharks have managed to secure a broadcast deal for Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup first round tie against Ghana’s Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Chinese pay-TV giants StarTimes will beam the game live across Africa from the Kasarani Stadium starting 3.00pm Kenyan time.
“All parties, including the crew who will produce the game, have agreed and everything is set to have fans across Africa, especially from Kenya and Ghana, enjoy the game on TV,” a close source indicated.
The return leg next week will also be live from Ghana on the same platform.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) allows host clubs to cash in on the broadcast rights before the tournament enters the more controlled group stage where a single dealer exclusively owns the rights.
Sharks managed to take advantage of a considerable amount of interest the fixture has generated especially in Ghana to hammer the deal.
Kotoko, the country’s biggest football club, is making a grand return to the continental scene after years in the cold, generating a lot of buzz.
Meanwhile, the team left Kumasi Tuesday and spent the night in Addis Ababa and will connect to Nairobi from the Ethiopian capital today (Wednesday) morning.
The winner of the two-legged encounter will enter the playoffs stage where they will face one of the CAF Champions League first round losers for a spot in the lucrative group stage.
