“Corporate Ghana must compliment growth of sports in Ghana”- Latex Foam

Kumasi-based second division side, Honeymoon Stars FC, owned by Latex foam Rubber Products Limited has won this year’s edition of the “Boss FM Independence Day Soccer Fiesta”.

The annual event held on 6th March every year brought together ten corporate institutions including, Everpure, Melcom, Boss FM, Paa Joe fitting shop and Concerned Youth Fun Club.

The rest are Dreams Multi Media, Feng fang, First Liberty Savings and Loans and Honeymoon Stars FC.

Honeymoon Stars FC losers to Boss FM in last year’s edition on penalties, started the competition by defeating Melcom in the first game by 3 nil.
After a pulsating winless score within regulations time, Honeymoon Stars FC, accounted for Everpure in a nervy 11-10 on penalty shootouts before piping Paa Joe Fitting Shop by a lone goal in the grand finale to lift the glittering giant trophy.
Obviously elated Team Manager of the club, who doubles as the Deputy Chief Accountant at Latex Foam Rubber Products Limited, Mr. Vincent Akutsah, stressed that “the victory marks yet another sign that the team is on course towards actualizing its vision of taking the ensuing division two league in the Region by storm “.
Adding that, “even though we are a very young team, one victory after the other is indicative of the fact that if we continue this way, we will justify the huge investments the company is making in the club, with the expressed vision of qualifying to the national premiership in a few year’s time”
“Very soon Honeymoon will begin to supply players to the national teams because we have budding youthful talent in this team. The silverwares won so far sums it all up” Akutsah assured.
He said as part of pragmatic efforts at keeping the team ready for the division two league, the club has done a number of what he called “very good” friendly games including, defending champions of the Premier League, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, New Edubiase, Ashantigold FC, Deportive FC.
“These elite friendly games have given the team a lot of confidence and hope for the future”. Akutsah added.
The Kumasi Manager of Latex Foam, Mr. Walid Chadrawy said, the company has a vision of contributing to sports in Ghana, especially football.
This he emphasized is because, “corporate Ghana must compliment efforts at developing the game in Ghana”
According to him, “Ghana abounds in massive football talent and if corporate Ghana got involved, they will be contributing their widow’s mite towards unearthing massive but hidden talents to compliment the efforts of the Sports Ministry and the Ghana Football Association”.
“Latex Foam, as the leading Rubber Products company in Ghana, as part of its social responsibility has invested huge sums of money in the game through sponsorship and we intend to do more” Chadrawy assured.
“The company, as we speak is sponsors of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars, back-to-back premiership champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Asokwa based club, Deportivo FC and Sandema-based Awaambe Sports Academy”.
He commended the organizers and all the participating clubs.
