Mrs. Gifty Addo, the widow of late Ghana Coach, Herbert Addo, says It is untrue that she is fighting with the children of her late husband, describing as false news that recently broke that she has caused the arrest of the five children.

Earlier this month, news broke that all five daughters of the late Coach Herbert Addo were in the gripes of the Adenta Police for an alleged dispute with their stepmother.

The ladies are said to have been expressing disrespect and issuing threats to their stepmother since the demise of their father.

The constant menace towards the widow forced her to lodge a complaint to the Police who are said to have arrested the daughters of the former Hearts of Oak and Kotoko Coach.

The news also suggested that the widow of the late Ghana coach in connivance with the Police, prevented the girls from being granted bail, thus ensuring that they spent the weekend of their arrest in jail.

But speaking to Ghanaweb TV, Mrs Gifty Addo said, all that was initially put out in the media is false.

“I had nothing to do with the arrest of the girls. In fact until recently I was on very good terms with all the children. Even during my marriage ceremony to their father, it was the fourth child who did my make-up, while the third child did the decoration for the ceremony; that tells you how close we were. If they need anything I give them and threat them as my very own. But after their father died everything change and these girls sometimes come to my house to physically abuse me. So I reported the case to the Domestic Violence & Victim Support Unit [DOVVSU], and the case went to court but when they were invited they failed to show up, forcing the court to order their arrest. If they had come to the court they would not have been arrested.” Mrs. Addo said.

There have been growing tension in the family after the death of the legendary Coach.

Herbert Addo remains one of the celebrated Ghanaian Coaches having managed the two most glamorous Clubs in the country (Kotoko and Hearts).

He also led Aduana Stars to their first major silverware when he supervised the side to clinch the Ghana Premier League in their debut season in the elite division in 2009.

In addition he worked as head Coach of the Black Stars and Black Meteors team.
