It was all joy in Osu as one of their talented cyclers, Frank Akuffo emerged winner in the 1st stage of the 2019 Cowbell Homowo Cycling Challenge on Sunday.

The Cowbell Homowo Cycling Challenge was greeted with much enthusiasm from the inhabitants who cheered their favourites on in an event which witnessed 86 cyclists who commenced the 81 kilometres race which lasted for over 3 hours.

After hours of heated cycling, Frank Akuffo from Osu crossed the finish line at 3h:56m:34.2s whiles Albinon Amen came second after elapsing 3h:56m:43.2s. Michael Agbugbalah managed to seal a 3rd place spot at a time of 3h:56m:43.2s.

The finalists were rewarded with cash prizes and souvenirs.

According to Akuffo, the next challenge in Prampram will be tough after annexing first place.

"I am going to be the bull's eye because everybody is going to stay behind me and everyone is going to watch every move I make", the 22-years-old cyclist said.

Brands Manager of Cowbell, Mr Joseph Ashong encouraged Ghanaians to expect a much bigger Cowbell Homowo Cycling Challenge in the coming days.



Mr Ashong said, "This is just the beginning, the next ones coming are going to be bigger than what we've seen today. The Homowo edition is something new we've brought up as part of our 20th-anniversary celebrations. We've been in Ghana for 20 years, nourishing bodies and minds of Ghanaians and we think it will be a good package to give to Ghanaians and everything has been fantastic."

The Cowbell Homowo Cycling Challenge will make their next stop in Pampram on August 31, followed by a grand finale on September 7 in Teshie.

Cyclists with the most points in all three stages will be crowned the overall winner after the final race in Teshie.
