DC United coach applauds Inkoom

Black Stars right-back, Samuel Inkoom made his debut for DC United as they beat Waterhouse FC 1-2 in their CONCACAF Champions League game last night at the Independence Park in Jamaica. Inkoom, 25, was at his usual best and it came as little surprise when Fabian Espindola scored his second on the night by connecting to an in-swinging cross from Inkoom to head home.

Inkoom, who played 90 minutes, began the night at right back before moving up to right midfield at halftime when Sean Franklin entered the match for Alex Caskey, who suffered a number of crunching tackles in the first 45 minutes.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Head coach Ben Olsen said: " That’s what this was about tonight: just getting a win. The players played well and I was impressed with [Samue] Inkoom & [Fabian] Espindola. We were able to do that so I’m happy. It’s huge – this is a confidence boost but it also gives us an advantage, gives us a good quick start and puts us in a good spot for the rest of the group.”
