The chairman for the Referees Appointment Committee, Eddie Doku, has given the clearest indication that the 48 Division One League clubs will be compelled to pay GH¢10,000 as officiating fee if the League does not get a headline sponsor before the start of the 2017/18 season.

According to him, it is not the responsibility of the Ghana Football Association to pay for the officiating fees of the referees in the upcoming season.

Division One League Board chairman, Owuahene Acheampong, earlier indicated that the withdrawal of GN Bank as headline sponsors of the Division One League will compel the clubs to pay the officiating fees.

GN Bank pulled out of the sponsorship for the DOL at the end of 2016/17 campaign.

The bank signed a three-year contract with the Ghana Division One League at the commencement of the 2014/15 campaign and injected a whopping GH¢2.1 million into the league.
