Owoahene Acheampong, chairman of the Division One League (DOL) Board, has said club that are found guilty of disrupting home matches must be made to face stringent punishments.

The division one league has been marred with numerous with misconducts on the part of home teams, officials and supporters.

The Swedru Park saw Class One Referee, Anthony Mensah, mercilessly beaten by some fans which nearly led to his untimely death of some officiating officials.

In an interview with GNA Sports, the astute football administrator said home teams were mandated to take charge of security and felt aggrieved with recent development that has marred the reputation of the league.

''The rules are clear, the home teams were supposed to be in charge of security, but where the Ghana Football Association (GFA), feels there is a need to employ additional security, they were obliged to do that,'' he told GNA Sports.

He added, ''What is going currently should be condemned in no uncertain terms. Supporters beating and throwing missiles at referees, which clearly doesn't auger well bearing in mind that football is not a boxing game.

He further revealed to GNA Sports that, members of the DOL Board would hold a meeting on Friday, 20 April, to deliberate on issues pertaining to this menace halting the progress of the game.

''I have received certain proposals and I have asked for an emergency board meeting tomorrow and we are going to take a clear decision as to the way forward,'' he noted.
