The football fraternity should brace itself for another legal battle as ace sports journalist Dan Kweku Yeboah has made known his intentions of suing the chairman of the Black Stars B Management Committee, Edmund Ackah over some defamatory comments the latter allegedly made about him.

In the wake of the Australia Visa scandal, Dan Kweku Yeboah’s name popped up as one of the journalists who was deeply involved in the scandal that marred Ghana’s participation in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Edmund Ackah who is widely regarded as a protégé of embattled President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi is alleged to have accused Kweku Yeboah of sending nine Ghanaians who posed as journalists in order to illegally enter Australia.

But the anti-corruption campaigner has strongly refuted those claims, maintaining that he is innocent and will resort to the law court to clear his name and reputation of those ‘baseless’ and ‘unfounded’ allegations levelled against him.

“It is very funny. As we speak, I have requested Asempa FM to give me an allegation by Edmund Ackah. I want to test the law, I want to give it to my lawyers. Almost all the allegations were coming from the pro-Nyantakyi people who thought that oh this is Kweku Yeboah who has been an avowed critic of Kwesi Nyantakyi, this is an opportune time to get back at him. But my point was that if you want to get back at me, get your facts right. Edmund Ackah was alleging that I took nine people, gave them accreditation as journalists and took GH 20, 000 from each of them, it was a baseless and blatant lie”, Kweku Yeboah said on Sports Check hosted by GhanaWeb sports editor Daniel Oduro.

Ghana’s participation in the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia was rocked with a visa racketeering scandal that led to the deportation of over 40 Ghanaians who sought entry into Australia with fraudulent documents.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has led to the suspension of the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Robert Sarfo-Mensah and the board chairman of the NSA Kwadwo Baah Agyemang.

It has also been reported that some editors and senior journalists also used their media houses to secure visas for some of the deported people and took money from them.
