Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey is poised to leave Turkish club Besiktas and join the Scottish powerhouse Celtic in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Amartey moved to Besiktas from Leicester City after their relegation to the Championship in the 2023/24 season.
Although Celtic had previously shown interest in signing the 29-year-old defender, Amartey opted for a move to Turkey instead.
After one season with Besiktas, Amartey has found himself out of the starting lineup and has been benched for several matches.
In a total of 37 matches, Amartey made 18 appearances, starting in 12 of those games. His last match for Besiktas was in April 2024.
Brendan Rodgers, who previously worked with Amartey at Leicester City, is now eager to recruit the central defender as they gear up for the UEFA Champions League competition next season.
