Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare believes that leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer was the best decision he has ever made.
The 21-year-old departed the Blancos after spending two years in the youth team. With prospects of breaking into the first team looking slim, the Ghana international signed a three-year contract with Liege.
Opare is happy with his move to Belgium and, according to Ghanasoccernet.com, enthuses: “I will say my move from Real Madrid is the wisest decision I have taken in my career and I’m happy I did that.
“It has given me another opportunity to showcase my talent and what I can do. It has also given me a new lease on life and I’m enjoying my stay here.”
The right-back made his second appearance for the Ghana national team on Tuesday evening when he came on a second-half substitute against England in a friendly international at Wembley. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
