Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda came off the bench to make his debut for Orlando Pirates on Saturday against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership.
Dauda replaced Senzo Meyiwa in the 69th minute after the latter injured himself in an attempt to save a shot and was forced off the pitch with severe cramps in both legs.
The Buccaneers were a goal down before the Black Stars shot-stopper came on and did not disappoint in his first competitive game for the Sea Robbers and ended with a clean sheet, despite the loss.
The former Ashantigold custodian felt a huge relief after a long wait on the bench since joining the South Africa top flight side in the last summer.
“I don’t know what will happen in the next game,” Ghana’s No. 1 last line of defence said after the game. “I have got a taste today, but now I need to work harder to impress the coaches.”
