Accra, July 4, GNA- The Georgian tennis team will arrive in the country on Monday ahead of the Euro-Africa Zone II Davis Cup tie against Ghana's Golden Racket billed to commence on Friday, July 15. The five-member contingent, made up of three players and two officials is captained and coached by Elerdashvili Gela.
The players ready to do battle with their Ghanaian counterparts are top seed Labadze Irakli, Chikhladze Lado and Ushangishvili Irakli. US-based and top seed Henry Adjei-Darko, former number one seed Gunther Darkey, Salifu Mohammed and Michael Nortey or Fred Egyir will represent Ghana in the three-day competition, which ends on Sunday, July 17 at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra.
The visitors would be lodged at the plush Golden Tulip Hotel and will begin their first training session on Tuesday at the centre court of the Ohene Djan Stadium.
The Davis Cup consists of five matches - four singles and one doubles played over three days. On the opening day, the Number Two singles player of each country is mandated to engage the Number One seed of the opposing nation.
The Number One players are matched against each other on day three while the second seeds clash each other in the fifth match. All the matches are played over best-of-five-sets with no tie breaks in the fifth set.
