Dede on target in Marseille defeat

Ghanaian International Andre Ayew scored for Olympique Marseille on Tuesday night in their 2-1 home defeat to Napoli in the Uefa Champions League at the Stad Velodrome.

The French side conceded two goals in-between the halves in front of their fans. Ghana winger Jordan Ayew who came off the substitute bench set up his elder brother Andre who crashed a half-volley beyond Pepe Reina from 20 metres after Jose Callejon and Duván Zapata had scored for Napoli.

Marseille’s poor run in both domestic and European competitions continued as they suffered yet another defeat after losing to OGC Nice in the Ligue 1 over the weekend. The strike marks Ayew’s fourth of the season in all competitions.

He has played in all matches so far for the club and forms part of the Marseilles ambitions for the ongoing season. . Elsewhere at the San Siro in Milan, Sulley Ali Muntari played the full game for AC Milan in their 1-1 draw against Barcelona. The 28-year-old’s decent form for Milan continued as he helped them to pick a point against the Spanish League champions.

Robinho scored for Milan whiles Lionel Messi poked on a loose ball to grab the equalizer for the Catalans.

In another game at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Shalke 04 lost at home to Chelsea 3-0 in a game which saw Fernando Torres grab a brace while Eden Hazard got the other.

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng made an injury return just in time to play for the Germans but could not turn their fortunes around. He was replaced after the 70th minute mark.
