Dede undergoes successful surgery in France

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has undergone a successful operation on a torn meniscus in his knee.

Ayew suffered the injury playing for Ghana in the World Cup playoffs against Egypt last week when he twisted his knee.

He underwent the surgery in Marseille on Monday which was done by Dr Jean-Pierre Franceschi.

“Andre Ayew has been operated on successfully,” a statement on the club’s official website read.

“Andre will leave hospital tomorrow and his unavailability is estimated at about two months.”

He came off in the 2-1 defeat in Cairo, although Ghana still qualified 7-3 on aggregate.

Marseille had said last week Ayew would need two months’ recovery time.

Ayew is expected to return to action after the winter break and will have more than five months to regain his fitness before the World Cup finals next June in Brazil.
