Degbe wins CAL Bank Golf

Accra, Sep. 13, GNA - Kwablah Degbe returned a net score of 64 to win this year's CAL Bank Limited Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday. Degbe who played 33 Back and 36 Front with a Handicap of five, will now be playing to a new Handicap of three.

H.R. Na took the second position with 69 net, after he beat Ron Pickings and Charles Appau-Oppong on count-back while Paul Owusu-Baah placed fifth with a net score of 71.

Elizabeth Aku Yabah won the Ladies category with 68 net followed by Mona Myles-Lamptey with 71 net while Janet Tamakloe took the third position with 72 net, beating Margaret Anderson on count-back In the Juniors' segment, Ernest Quarshie came first with 66 net while Bright Logo placed second with 75 net when he beat Yao Degbe on count-back.

The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which was open to amateur golfers throughout the country attracted 120 participants. Mr Frank Adu, Managing Director of CAL Bank Limited, said the company would continue to support the promotion and the development of Golf in the country to ensure it develops and achieves international standards.

On behalf of the Bank he presented a cheque for 10,000 Ghana cedis to the Achimto Golf Club. Mr Mike Aggrey, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club received the cheque on behalf of the Club and thanked the Bank for its contribution and support. He called on other corporate bodies to support the Club's 75th anniversary celebration which would be climaxed with a tournament on October 27. 13 Sept. 09
