Former Asante Kotoko CEO Samuel Opoku Nti has expressed strong confidence in his team’s chances of pulling off an upset against rivals Hearts of Oak in the upcoming Democracy Cup.

The highly anticipated match between Ghana's two top clubs is set for Wednesday, July 17th, at the Accra Sports Stadium, kicking off at 18:00 GMT. This match commemorates 30 years of democratic practice in Ghana.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Opoku Nti, a club legend, voiced his belief in Asante Kotoko's ability to secure a historic third consecutive victory over Hearts of Oak.

"Asante Kotoko will definitely defeat Hearts of Oak on Wednesday. The club has been recruiting top-quality players this season," he affirmed.

Acknowledging past shortcomings, Opoku Nti highlighted the efforts by the Interim Management Committee to rectify mistakes.

"We are determined to achieve three successive wins over Hearts of Oak, a feat rarely accomplished in any season," he emphasized. "While Hearts of Oak holds a notable 4-0 record against Asante Kotoko, we aim to level that statistic."

Asante Kotoko secured successive wins over Hearts of Oak in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter.

Prior to the main event, parliamentarians and former Black Stars players will compete at the same venue, adding to the excitement of the day.
