High-flying Spanish side Deportivo Alaves are reported to be planning on selling Mubarak Wakaso as part of their plans to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.
According to GOL Digital, the Babazorros El Glorioso will dump the Ghana international to fund their bid for Merino.
Wakaso, 28, has been in fine form for the club side in the ongoing campaign after making 9 appearances to help the Mendizorrotza Stadium outfit to 4th on the league log, but with strong interest from Getafe is forcing the hand of club to sell the midfielder.
Deportivo Alaves coach Abelardo Fernández has been told he must get rid of some players to generate funds and free up space within his squad for Merino.
The former Newcastle United attacking midfielder's time at Anoeta has been blighted by injuries which has prevented him from playing with continuity, but when he has done so he has been a key player for Asier Garitano.
Wakaso has joined up with his teammates in training after playing a starring role for Ghana in their 2-0 win over the Walias of Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
He last featured for the side in their 2-1 win over Villarreal on matchday 10 of the Spanish La Liga, but will hope to recapture his place in the team when they travel to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque to play CD Leganes on Friday.
