Deputy Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu has claimed that the current crop of players of Asante Kotoko are the best the club have had in three years.
Asante Kotoko, who are Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, proved their mettle in their first outing in the competition after playing a goalless draw with Kariobangi Sharks in Kenya.
Several football pundits believe the Porcupine Warriors have assembled one of the best sides in recent time and are capable of winning the competition.
A claim which Maxwell Konadu who coached the side for two seasons has conceded but advised them to purchase a central defensive and attacking positions to complement the team.
"I think Kotoko's team is not bad, we will all agree that Kotoko's current team is the best in the last 3 to 4 years, very tough, better than the previous squad,” Konadu stated on Oyerepa FM.
“After watching them play against Inter Allies, Meteors and Kariobangi Sharks and the team is improving match after match but there's room for improvement.”
“Yet I still think Kotoko needs another deadly striker in the shape of Sogne Yacouba so if one is not available, the other can play satisfactorily, depending on one striker is not the best. Another area is the left back and a tough tall central defender.”
