Derek Asamoah set to sign for Ermis Aradippou

Ghana international Derek Asamoah is set to become the first major signing for Cypriot side Ermis Aradippou, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 33-year-old, who has previously played for clubs in England, France, Scotland, Bulgaria and South Korea, is expected to boost their Europa League campaign.

Last year, Asamoah left Pohang Steelers – where he was one of the club’s top scorers – as a free agent and signed for Daegu FC in mid-February where he scored four goals in 33 appearances.

“We have agreed with him and he is expected in Cyprus today [yesterday]. Our coach will determine if he is in the correct physical condition despite the player’s impressive reputation. Tomorrow [today], he will have his first training session,” Ermis spokesperson Kyriakos Hadjicharalambous said.

“He has had a good last season and is an experienced player. If no problems arise, the deal is as good as done.”

Ermis coach Nicos Panagiotou has already brought in ten new players including Brazilians Marcio Rosario and Packer from Maritimo and Treze respectively.

Other notable signings include Ghanaian defender Daniel Addo from Ukrainian side Zorya, Romanian striker Mircea Axente, FYROM keeper Martin Bogatinov, Georgian midfielder Giorgi Iluridze, English striker Hakeem Araba from AEK Kouklia and Cypriot duo Georgios Tofas and Martinos Christofi.
